It could be because problem in PAP authentication.Also
it could be that the server is not able to attribute
an IP address to the client. Although I haven't used
RH 7.2, I have heard that people have encountered
problems with ppp version bundled with RH 7.2. In that
case you can try compile directly from the
ppp-2.4.1.tar.gz sources (from the latest versions
maintained by Paul McKarras ??). Check your IP adress
settings. Try kppp if you are using the dialer
provided with Gnome(My personal experience, although I
have not analysed the cause).May also try reading "how
to hook up PPP" at
http://axion.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html
