Ashutosh,

try putting "noccp" as a keyword in /etc/ppp/options or use it on the command line if 
that is how you're invoking pppd.

To quote from "man pppd"

<quote>
       noccp  Disable  CCP  (Compression  Control  Protocol)  negotiation.   This 
option
              should only be required if the peer is buggy and gets confused by 
requests
              from pppd for CCP negotiation.
</quoute>

If this doesn't solve the problem, post the relevant part of your logs and we'll have 
a look at it.
