My first instinct is to look at the network traffic of your transfer
with wireshark or something equivalent, provided it's not SSL-encrypted.
That can potentially help you to understand why the transfer rate is so
low. Maybe there are many retransmissions or something like that.

Yes, I am definitely interested and happy to pay for postage.
Mind that I am located in Europe, I hope that is not a problem.
Is there by any chance any ancient hardware collecting dust in a corner

Blast from the past, I know. Maybe somebody here remembers how this is
done.
I have a 4224, connected to a 3174 that is talking APPN to OS/390. The
printer registers successfully on the 3174, I see a 'p' at the port that
it is connected to in the 'Status Summary' screen of the 3174.

Hi,
I am searching for documentation to these devices, especially the 3979.
So far I couldn't even find a picture of the 3979.

In VTAM there are several LUs defined, all equal. Only displays, no
printers. On the 3174 there is no special provisioning either.
I know of the existence of PSERVIC in the LOGMODE macros, but not how to
craft PSERVIC values.
GDDM is working e.g. on the 3290.

Hi
This has probably not been done by anybody in 20 years, I'll try my luck
anyways.
I have several physical 3270 displays hooked up to a 3174 that talks
APPN to VTAM. 3179, 3290 and an IRMA board work without any issues.
There is a 3192G (DFT, like the 3290) as well, that doesn't.
The display d
You cannot really make overall assumptions.
There are several limiting factors how much you can shove in a given

* Total power consumption
* Total heat output (Can be ignored in many cases)
* Airflow direction, you often don't want to mix, depending on A/C

Hi
I have a 3290 terminal that I'd like to put to some use. See email
thread 'Talking to 3270 terminals?' that I started Jan 14.
Somebody then pointed me to oec[1], which is an awesome project. I have
built the hardware interface that is required to talk to a 3270 terminal
on the hardware level
https://github.com/lowobservable/oec
Oh wow, that's remarkable.
Shopping for the components to build such an interface already.
It's every rather simple to do!
I am not considering the 3174 idea anymore and will just try to make
this work.

Hi
I am new to this list and would like to discuss an idea and ask several

* Did anybody ever attempt to 'talk' to 3270 terminals with something
different than an IBM mainframe?
This might sound like a strange idea, though I find it intriguing to be
