David,
Since everything seems to be working, albeit I still have the $C at the end
of the right hand row, I don't think I will try to change anything.
However, for future reference, do you mean reboot the computer or relaunch
GnuCash?
TIA,

Maria,
I'm not sure what you're talking about; hiding an account doesn't make the data
unrecoverable, it just hides it from view if you tell GnuCash not to display
hidden accounts. As Fred suggests in his reply elsewhere, in View->Filter
by->Other, you can tell GnuCash to display or suppress h
Hello Brad and list,
I can't speak for Gividen, but I run Fedora 41 and have noticed the
same issue when in dark mode: GnuCash remains in Adwaita instead of
going to Adwaita Dark.

GnuCash should pick up the dark theme from the system but in
Edit_Preferences_>Register under Graphics, there is an option to switch
off the default GnuCash register colors. That should then revert to the
dark theme defaults in the register.

Hi.
I am not familiar with desktop environments. Is that the same as a user
interface? As best I can tell I am using GNOME.
Thanks.

Larry,
Just for clarity this is what my Preference settings look like - so Locale
is selected and it is picking up AUD from my pc settings. I did get around
to checking this on one of my Win 11 pc's with the same expected result as
Win 10.

IIRC you need to reboot after changing the Locale.

Bob,
A note on your comments. While I understand your frustration (believe me-- been

software package free of charge--and supported it for nearly 30 years--is

Hi,
Thanks to everyone for their insights. I was in error when I said that I
had reset it to Locale/Canadian$. When I set it to Locale it still stayed
at US$. We live close to the US border so maybe it thinks we are in the US.
I changed it to Choose/CAN$ and it now populates the monthly columns. I

I was entering a foreign currency transaction and in the edit currency

Greetings and salutations.
I am using Ubuntu 22.04.5 and GNUCash 5.1 .
How do I put GNUCash into dark mode?
I have Ubuntu's appearance set to dark. In GnuCash preferences I have tried
selecting and deselecting "use GnuCash built-in color theme" with no change.
Thank you for your help.

Hi, I have been using Gnucash since 2015. During the past 10 years, I did a
lot of trading in investment. So I ended up with a long list of asset
accounts, now that I am retired, I consolidated all my investments into
just a few mutual funds, so all the other asset accounts are zero balance.
