It's interesting to note that Alpha Vantage is still recommended to GnuCash
users and is available to some, as it stopped working for me a few weeks ago.
When I contacted the Alpha Vantage Team, I was told that I needed to contribute
to the premium plan, at a minimum cost of 49.99 USD per month
Hi Alan,I am also UK based and you need to check the following.
You have a valid free Alpha Vantage API key setup in preferences for on-line
quotes
You have the latest on-line stock retrieval at least Finance::Quote: 1.53
otherwise your quotes will not download (this is probably the issue as Alp

I believe that AlphaVantage is the "default" simply because it is
alphabetically first in the list. And it is included because it is still
possible for users to use it, albeit with significant restrictions (that have
been imposed after the original implementation).

Hi Martin,
Thank you for your very helpful response.
I can confirm that I have a free Alpha Vantage API key setup in Preferences,
which I assume is valid because when I tried to obtain a new one, (just in case
that was the problem), Alpha Vantage confirmed that I already have one.

John,
I'm a bit confused.
I originally had the network & server name set to irc.gnome.org.
I could see activity just fine.
I switched the network name to irc.gimp.org as advised, had to
re-register my nick, and now the channel is quiet.
Am I missing something?
Now I see warlord is advising
So just to be clear, you're running on an M1/M2 Mac - perhaps provide
machine specs ? Anything meaningful in the trace file -

Hmm...
First, since you upgraded, if you didn't already do so, run:
Actions > Check & Repair > Check & Repair All
If something is off with the underlying data, it could be wrecking havoc
with report code as that seems to be the area at issue.
Run from the Terminal to see if there is any usef
Hi,
It sounds like you are still pointing to irc.gnome.org.
irc.gnome.org is an alias for irc.libera.chat.
irc.libera.chat has address 46.16.175.175
irc.libera.chat has address 51.89.226.78
irc.libera.chat has address 188.240.145.101
irc.libera.chat has IPv6 address 2001:41d0:801:1000::a44

Do other reports work?
If so, the devs may be interested in why this one in particular doesn't.

Adrien

Thanks Derek,
As you could see in the channel, that helped.
I notice I had changed the Network Name but not the server.
I now have them both as 'irc.gimp.org' and I'm now in the right channel.
For anyone else seeing this, I got a bit confused with the various
aliases and the page on the Wiki.
You should find some Finance Quote Perl scripts (gnc-fq-check/update/etc)
in "C:\Program Files (x86)\gnucash\bin". You can run these using Perl by
opening a command prompt and entering for example perl "C:\Program Files
(x86)\gnucash\bin\gnc-fq-check" - you need the quotes around the

Hi David,
Thank you for your detailed response, which is very helpful.I've tried updating
the Finance::Quote as you suggested, but it appears that some prerequisites are
missing, so I need to investigate how to install those, and will try again
tomorrow if I have time. I've downloaded the lates

Interesting; I just attempted to set this up a few weeks ago... I went to
their web site and signed up for the free ID code.
Maybe they check the IP address and it is not available in the UK? I hope
you will hear from others...

If one is entering a transaction the date defaults to today. That seems
quite reasonable. However, if entering historical transactions, that date
needs changing. It’s easy to overlook that, so a transaction made 6 months
ago gets recorded today.
Is there any way to stop GnuCash automatically selec
GnuCash will always re-select the last date you used to create a new
transaction. So if you are entering multiple transactions, when you open
the register it will default to today.. Change that to 6 months ago and
enter the transaction. Then the *next* transaction (in that register)
will default

Hi Alan,
To update F::Q on windows
You would go to start menu and then to gnucash menu, in there you
should find update online quotes, this will update F::Q
However, I would recommend you update GC now to the latest version
4.12.
regards,
Martin
