Hi David.
Yes, it is working for me using the namespace NYSEARCA with Alphavantage.
I'm just following up and testing to help understand why and how the
namespace has a relevance (or not - according to others).

There does seem to be a disconnect between the two. I know John Ralls says the
former, but I've long observed the latter. Personally, I'd prefer not to be
bound by the namespace; every time there's a new commodity to add, I end up

I am no expert, but I see that you have the namespace as ARCA. What happens if
you change it to NYSEARCA? I've seen quotes fail when this is entered
incorrectly, although it may not change anything.

Hi John.
Sure, you're right! Found it.
Now, seems that the value is not updating. I've added the VT security, but
in the list I still see "user:price-editor", which I imagine is not
correct?!
How should I proceed to troubleshoot and fix the quotes updates not working?

Hi all.
I've added VT security in my Security Editor. I've chosen to have it
automatically updated using Alpha Vantage, for which I got an API key.
Now, some instructions I found tell me to go under "Edit - Preferences" but
on MacOS with GnuCash 5.9 there's no such menu option. So my first question

Hello Christopher - I don't think it's an executable. Windows is trying to
find the program to open it with and can't find it in the store. I'd
re-download it from the official store and turn on extension visibility per
David H.'s comment and try again.

It's missing the ".exe* in the file name. Did you save it like that or did
you download it from a different source other than github or sourceforge?

You can achieve the ad-hoc nature of a templated transaction by setting the
frequency of the scheduled transaction to 'Once'.
Set up your scheduled transaction, set the frequency to 'Once', run the
scheduled transactions/Since Last Run option, fill in the variables, then
proceed.

The only mechanism that really exists to have "templated arbitrary
formulas" is to use the periodic Scheduled Transactions. It would be nice
to have them created ad-hoc (ie menu item Create Transaction from Template
which pops up a list of available templates) instead of periodically...

Thanks for the reply Rich.
My main question is: is there a way to automate these calculations in
GNUCash or for each transaction I need to compute and input each component
of the income by hand?
I have read the GNUCash documentation but I was not able to figure out if
this is possible or not.
