Hi everyone and thanks for all of your help and suggestions. I thought that I would try to download V 5 to my desktop and it worked perfectly. I then copied the download file to a flash drive & used it to open V 5 on my new laptop. Also worked perfectly & I am up to date. The problem appears to be with the version of windows 11 on the new laptop although all other downloads have opened without a problem. If any one comes across a solution to the Windows glitch / GnuCash I would appreciate a note. Many thanks again Christopher
