It appears to depend upon where one is in the world.
Last week in Medellin, Colombia, it took hours on a fast internet connection.

Yahoo only via yahoo_json as a single source? You aren't running
any VPN session, knowingly or unknowingly, right?

35 stocks.
Last night, it took 2 hours and 45 minutes, or 165 minutes, to get prices.
That works out to 4.7 minutes per stock.
Anyone else seeing this long time to get stock prices using yahoo_json?

I ran the command line interface to update the stock prices
on the file/book that crashed from the GUI. No crash with CLI.
It ran for about 18 hours! Anyone have any idea why so long?

All the prices are coming from yahoo_json
OS: Linux Fedo
After reading the wiki, I have tried:
gnucash-cli --log gnc.price-quotes=debug --quotes get tybor.gnucash
It finished after 6.5 hours! Why so long now? As before, it took about 5
minutes.
With this book, it did not crash (the crash I got before was with another
book).
It did find 5 securities wi
The currency problem was my fault.
In moving to a newer Linux and Gnucash,
I forgot to set the Alphavantage key.
That part is working OK now.

After several hours, I got (in the Price Database window):
Price retrieval failed: Failed to parse result returned by Finance::Quote
Error message:

Result:
then comes lines and lines of text that exceeds the screen
I have tried to capture that window with
