OpenOSX is just a company that has made a custom build of Bochs, a PC
emulator. I guess they ship FreeDOS with it. Link:

That one works perfectly on my emulator too! It is much faster !!!
Now I only have to try those things to get to work at the compaq at my
work.
UniVBE is also very easy to install!

The newest version of Format, version 0.91n, worked much better for me.
It solved all problems i had (like saying the disk is damaged while it
wasn't!). Maybe you should try that one?
