Was running "FreeBSD 11.2-RELEASE-p4 (SHEEVAPLUG) #4 r339336M: Sat Oct 13 23:31:51 CEST 2018". Compiled 11.3-BETA1, installed kernel.bin in /boot/msdos and started it. Output below. It hangs. I guess in starting the random/entropy stuff. Any thoughts or advise? Don't spend to much time on it,

This message of pkg is misleading. It looks at /bin/sh or something like that for the version. And prints that as the 'kernel' version. So if you did an incremental build and /bin/sh was not changed the version stays the same. To fix it you can do a clean buildworld/installworld. Regards, Rona
