I tried reproducing the problem on both i386 and amd64,
but could not. I installed 5.3 RELEASE, cvsuped to the
tip of RELENG_5, re-built the kernel with twa integrated,
and rebooted. The test systems booted just fine (off of
3ware controlled da0). I even tried replacing just the
twa sources of

That's exactly what's happening. I put ggatec and ggated into
verbose mode, and tried the same thing. When I cat the file, there
appears to be nothing going on in the logs for either ggatec or ggated
(or even when I do an ls for that matter). This is definitely

Could you see if the driver is getting loaded? The driver prints

Did the new firmware get flashed? You can download the firmware
from the 3ware website and flash it on the card using a DOS floppy.
Alternatively, you can a

This would probably help you to boot:
unload

Run those commands from the boot loader prompt.

Hi!
Yesterday I upgraded from 5.3 RELEASE to 5 STABLE. Everything went fine,
but my keymap is no longer working. In rc.conf I have
keymap="german.iso", but I can't type german umlauts.
As soon as I do "kbdcontrol -l german.iso" it works like expected, but
after a reboot it's gone. Am I missing

Hiho! :-)
I'm running:
FreeBSD greatsheep 5.3-STABLE FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE #17: Sat Nov 13

and since a few days, I've been getting these messages (only a few):

Can I simply ignore them or do they point to a real problem?

I have an OOo process that refuses to die. ps says it is stopped and waiting
for physical I/O (and has been for about 13 hours now). lsof reports that
fd12 is not sane (f_ops is "badfileops").
Any ideas on:
- How to unwedge the process (short of rebooting)?
- What the underlying problem is?

Scott,
We want to take this box into the lab as soon as we have a
replacement for it, but we could do with knowing the best way to
generate the problem on demand. So far the amr driver only seems
