I know Scott Long looked into it long ago, and he seems to have been the last one to touch the driver. He indicated a few months ago that he had little time; perhaps things look brighter now that 5.3 is out?

I'm still very short on time, unfortunately. If someone wants to help, the key is to replace all of the vtophys() calls with the appropriate busdma infrastructure and then audit the code for 64-bit truncation problems. If only it was as easy done as it is said =-)
