Unfortunatly, this document doesn't fully explain how /usr/local/etc/rc.d
has changed, but it's a good start nonetheless. More can be gleaned
by following the links to other man pages, and reading the various

Pros are that the system will be easier to maintain. You're system will
have less programs with vulnerabilities installed, and will use less
disk space.
Cons are that you'll spend less time working with this system, and it's
less likely to get cracked,

their cooperation.
If you're trying to get master.passwd on a machine that you have no root
access on, they you'll have to break root on that machine, and this is
the wrong forum to ask questions about how to do that.

You can work with an incomplete ports tree sometimes. The ports tree
is heavily dependent on the fact that make can jump to different
directories to install dependencies and such ... that being said,
I have been able to use partial ports trees in the past. I
worked for me.

Just reinstall the one you want. If it's Windows, you'll need to reinstall
the FreeBSD boot manager after you've reinstalled Windows (because Windows
rebuilds your boot loader to its liking, without asking you). Just make
sure you use the correct partitions, etc.
In various places in the source code, for example, in the code for printf():

I understand everything except __restrict. What does that mean/do? Is it
a FreeBSDism? (I can't find anything about it in any C docs)

I had the latter, but when I started moving my code int
the IP/netmask you've assigned to the network card. If you
don't care, you can ignore the messages. All it means is that ARP was
not able to turn the IP address into a MAC address.
I believe there is a way to disable these messages, but I don't remember
for sure.

Keep in mind that the user "root" has a user crontab that is different
from the system crontab.
If you're still fuzzy as to what went wrong, reading the man pages for
crontab (in addition to my explanation) should help.
