I can log into OWA from any one of several computers, and yes, I have
two ubuntu hardy heron, and both fail the same way.
I don't know how to debug it further. It seems there are some command
line binary tools that can be built

For me I use the same URL my browser eventually points to (copy and paste). I
use exactly the same login credentials then my login into OWA ...
I assume you checked firewalls and the like. Tried another PC as well?
