I installed 12.10, this gave me liimited use of the system, in that
ctrl+alt+t gave me a terminal.
With that I should be able to provide some more info when provided with
the commands needed.

I do not have the system available at all, when last I started from an
external dvd, (12.10) the main screen remained blank, no further acces
exisited, thus no way of providing any more info. Please note that in
earlier posts I indicated that I tried different monitors, all to no

Since no answer has been found, I went elsewhere, in fact to the support
people at "System76.com" There after talking about my problem the
gentleman suggested that my problem might be in the /home directory
which I had carefully preserved each time an installation was done. So
I reunstalled 14.04L
This problem is not solved, after almost two months of nothing, one
would expect some answer and indeed a fix.
It is extremely annoying to fight the app to turn itself on, it usually
turns of as soon as the mouseis at rest for a few seconds, then the
fight to make a connection starts all over agai
Happy to report that this problem has been solved. After weeks of
trying, I tested a new bluetooth mouse and found it worked correctly, as
the previous mouse did until it broke down.

I own this laprop, I installed Ubuntu, and I am the only user. I do not

I logged in to Unity, as admin, and tried tty, There is no response to
the keyboard, thi=us I did not get c command line.
I did log in under Gnome, executed the command as suggested, I have a
whole list of installation in Terminal , do you want to see that? I

Logged in, started CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm) and found
"Ubuntu Utility Plugin" it is check marked. Also under Uncategorized
"Unity MT Grab Handles" also check marked.
No other mention of Unity.

I think I am in Unity, there is no panel howeverHere is the result of the above

down apps such as Firefox and Thunderbird, also the shutdown button does
not respond until I move the pointer to the extreme left top, then all 4

No that did not help.
The problem with mouse clicks remains, also clicking the touch pad is
not responded to. This is within Unity, in an app clicking works Ok i.e
Firefox or VirtualBox etc.
I also cannot change the appearance even though the appearance app shows
the new background.
