What version of django are you using?
Will other commands (like validate or runserver) work?
Is this an existing known-to-work django app, or are you running
something new?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I'm getting a segmentation fault on syncdb. No further output. On a
pretty much vanilla ubuntu feisty box on grokthis.
Output is as follows:
# ./manage.py syncdb
Segmentation fault

I wonder if this is somewhat a known issue or am I the one missing
something? Never got this before.

Try this:

Your best bet would be to upgrade to svn. It is every bit as stable an
0.96, but it has all those extra features that make it so much nicer.
A list of backwards incompatible changes is located at

Good luck!

I believe an override with css is the best option here. size=30 is
probably the standard for a form field representing CharField. You could
open a ticket with a feature request to change the default behavior.

Thanks Malcom for clarifying that. I suspected there was some sort of
bug so I installed the subversion instead of the official release and
I now have everything up and running. Also, I am now using a Postgre
database and I'm very impressed so far.
Thanks to everone who replied.

I'm not 100% sure exactly what your question is, but it appears that you
do need to upgrade to the svn version.
The backwards-incompatible changes are documented in excruciating detail
here:

You need to provide more information. Django doesn't serve your
media, so what are you using to serve media? Is it apache? If so you
probably need to provide your apache conf for your site and
information on where in your filesystem your media is stored.
