Actually, I've been looking for an alternative to Google Voicebut
for a different reasonthe deprecation of XMPP.
I've been using Obihai adapters to do phone service at home using Google
Voice. Which has generally been okay, though the dropped calls does
happen...which I hadn't really tho

A while back I did a side job installing a small PBX at a local town
office. They have about 8 extensions, and they'd been using shared analog
lines strung all over the place. The PBX let them put the numbers into a
hunt group and set up a short menu system.

Edward - has anything in your network changed recently? It sounds like
you need a keep alive on a network connection. Or your broadband
connection wants to sell you SIP. without all that network
neutrality I'm sure you can be more successfully monetized by those
you depend on.

Asterisk is pretty simple to support if you layer FreePBX on top as a
management interface.

I have been using a wonderful app called "Talkatone" for some time now on
iOS and Android. It does use Google Voice as the back bone, which I know
you said you were trying to avoid. Please note that to use
