The issue of incompatibility between the two groups has been brought
up in previous threads about this same topic (and I agree).
Unfortunately, if nobody was listening before, then most likely nobody
is listening now.

No, recently I was definitely agreeing with uriel. :) You're mistaking
me for someone else.

Hi!
I enjoyed following the d...@suckless.org list. I'm not a C programmer but I
enjoyed reading the fine comments people made about dwm code and patches to
it. I also got a lot of hints about different kind of useful suckless
software.
It was easy to decide if I wanted to read or not the mails b

Why can't people just stay on-topic?
To me, people should avoid OT posts, should use filters (since the list
configuration can't satisfy all users, while personal f

If you are in the list, then you are supposed to know how to filter.

I agree. Just don't read the thread you don't find interesting. The
subject should be clear about that.

I try to answer extra-uriel-like-friendly.
Why can't people stfu and do some work or try to learn how to filter
mails instead of argueing about such needless crap.
The old lists were mostly off-topic too. And especially the dwm-list
was used to announce other suckless(-like) projects very often.
Why can't people filter out messages with [OT] is the subject line?

I think dev@ is pretty self-explanatory, it should be for bug reports,
patches, and other _DEV_elopment-related topics. Most people interested in

There's always the archives. Unfortunately, because of the size of
peoples rants these days the off topic discussion is beginning to far
outweigh actual project related chatter.

The set of emails that every member of a list wants to read is
different, the only solution to make everyone happy would be to have
one list per-email (or perhaps one list per-thread, if you are really
optimistic and tolerant).
As an alternative one can setup filters or use the Delete button (or

I'd suggest taking a look at hackers@ and wiki@, which will at least
keep you abreast of code changes and any patches that get added to the

As much as I love dwm and suckless projects in general, I could really
do without all the off-topic conversations by the same 10 people. If
there will not be split suckless-dev/suckless-discussion lists I will be
unsubscribing. I hate to miss all the good code and patches, but I also
