Removing gstreamer1.0-vaapi does make this particular crash go away, but

Outcome slightly weird.
Under "Files & Attachments" there was an entry for content type http.
The only options were "Always ask" or "Use Konqueror (default)". I
chose Konqueror and now http links in emails open in Firefox!
There is no entry for https and https links do not open in anything.

I've resolved issue by fixing the
~/.local/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop
file by editing following entry:

There is no "problem" per se. It's just that Ubuntu's version of `xvfb-
run` is not really compatible/consistent with the one in other distros.
Some distros have deprecated `--auto-servernum` in favor of a different
setting `--auto-display` which I guess does something "better". I'm just

On Ubuntu 22.04, chromium is not available as a deb package, only as a
snap. The chromium-browser package is a simple wrapper for the snap. I'm
not sure what version you were running as a deb, but it's not one
