I think the problem is that Wine registers mime types in the native
desktop for anything an installed Windows application supports and there
is no easy way to manage them. These registrations are located in
~/.local/share/applications and moving the files elsewhere (not the
subdirectories!) remove

Try installing the package "kdm-gdmcompat". This allows gnome-
screensaver to work with kdm when switching users. This works for me on

compare it's state with the Power Manager applet. Also look in
/proc/acpi/battery/ and "cat info" and "cat state" to see
what ACPI is reporting when the problem occurs.

I just encountered it again in Hardy but I also was having a crash issue
with gdm. I ran gdm-setup the first time out of XFCE and gdm segfaulted
dropping me back to a VT. I restarted gdm and tried again. After
selecting Happy Gnome with Browser and logging out, gdm died again and
didn't restart.
Correct the hint and error message. It should be consistent with other
app dialog boxes.

attempted to create a user name of "staff". As is default in Ubuntu,
USERGROUPS=yes in adduser.conf so each new user gets their own group.
