It worked only once: I had opened nautilus with the (standard) home
directory and could open a second tab using ctrl-T. But then again, when
I tried to change from home to a network directory, this took forever
and the network directory thus was never loaded, which worked

I have just had this error while opening some pdf files from Firefox.
One of them (http://www.docv.gva.es/datos/2010/09/06/pdf/2010_9553.pdf)
has crashed evince. Nonetheless, once I have tried again it has opened
the file without problems. So, the error hasn't reproduced.
In kern.log I get:
evinc
If this bug has already been reported is there a different report that this one
should be marked duplicate of?
I'd like to subscribe to the real report to track the fix for maverick and to
update my landscape support case to point the actual report.

I got the same problem (under Natty) until I install this package :
libdconf0 (I'm used to install Ubuntu in command line then I add minimal
package set I need ...). Maybe you should try this, hoping it'll fix
your problem.
(Evince uses dconf to store its settings)

2. Try resizing the preview pane by dragging it to right.

assigned the Favorites shortcut key to Launch the calculator, and when
pressed, calculator is launched. I have tried launching in all modes,
and none of them have the behaviour you describe. Could you please try

Looks like this was corrected in the latest nautilus/nautilus-data
update in the gnome3 ppa (2.91.94). yay! :)

Thanks for the pointers. Yet I can confirm that installing:
sudo aptitude install libappindicator1/maverick-proposed
python-appindicator/maverick-proposed
(and rebooting)
does /not/ solve the issue:
