it is indeed fixed in maverick, but to the best of my knowledge, 10.04 has LTS status. Perhaps the gcalctool from maverick could be backported to 10.04? I have switched to 10.10 since the bug was reported, so I can no longer tell if it has already been fixed for lucid.
