It seems that GDM itself is the cause. Whenever it updates the
/var/cache/gdm/$user/dmrc, it adds some useless utf8 marker to the
locale e.g. my locale is fi_FI.UTF-8 which gets mingled into
fi_FI.UTF-8.utf8 and that is what prevents the login from taking place.

AFAIK, "eject" has always worked (as per bug #504440) and still does.
This bug is meant to address the confusing UI issues, since the

Regression: Multiple Keyboard Layouts unusable:
running maverick, main menu still takes about 7-10 seconds to open after
any boot-up or reboot.
I do not like most Microsoft Windows OSs or apps.
I do like the start-up menu, it's fast and changed or edited like any
other shortcut links, and even on the fly.
Why not use what works best, and is e
