I recently clean-installed Ubuntu 64-bit on my brand new laptop (lenovo
w500). After the install, i tried to play a DVD and an error is
displayed: "An error occurred - No URI handler implemented for dvd."

i just remove all jabber accounts, then update empathy today to
2.28.1.1-0ubuntu1 (it is newer than 2.28.1-1ubuntu1 and it is in
karmic-proposed repository), then add jabber accounts and bug has gone.

Real problem is not just the mixer :(
Pulseaudio don't work with 5.1 sound properly. When switch to 5.1 sound from
default mixer (this one, the new mixer and pulseaudio installed) I hear sound

I get screen blanking regardless of the program running and regardless
of the power management and screensaver settings. For instance, when the
screensaver is disabled and all screen blanking settings in power
management are set to at least 1 hour, the screen blanks anyway after 10

I think this should be on by default... and I still do not see the point
of NOT asking novice users if they are sure to delete a document... It
is the one of the most dangerous thing you can do on a computer.

call to a friend running Vista. Outgoing calls seem to work every time

that appears to have helped. However why did it work without any
fiddling on 9.04 and not on 9.10?

Actually I just realised that it's probably pulseaudio that doesn't
work. Even though the daemon seems to be started:

Changing the Application and Fixed width font settings in the Gnome

I've found a fix!
if I go to Accessories->Passwords and encryption keys and find the entry
for "hmelj" (my windows 2008 server) under Passwords->default and delete
that then Nautilus will prompt me for user name and password for the
server once again (Guest) and let me in, everything works ok. Thi
