I was able to open the file w/ GIMP and then resaved it as a PCX file
and now everything else can read it. That seems odd, not entirely sure
what's causing the issue yet. Random PCX files on the internet gThumb &

I added in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base (open with root access) following line at
the bottom:
options snd-atiixp model=hp position_fix=1 enable=yes
After restarting, the internal microphone as well as the plugged one worked
exactly how you expect them

I'm using Intrepid and removing the 10-* links in /etc/fonts/conf.d/ does NOT
fix the problem.
I removed the links by entering the following command:

Running intrepid 32bit with all updates as of today.
Running on a Lenovo idepad s10e (atom netbook)
X eats all cpu and the os is unusable until i kill gnome-power-manager.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 / gcalctool 5.24.1 as well and it doesn't work. It is
very irritating when working with larger numbers. And Kcalc is fine but
consumes much memory with all KDE's libraries it is using.
