noticed a peculiar behaviour with my notebook's sound card (Intel HDA).

I can confirm that I see this on current gutsy 0.18-0ubuntu1 xchat-gnome
package; for me when I open the spell check preference window the set of
options ticked is correct (English US/ and UK), but if I click on another
option (e.g. the en-gb underneath) the whole list inverts - so only en
I have a temporary workaround for US English keyboard. I don't know if
it will work for any other keyboard settings but you might try and
report back.

I did the same modification for the Comment key which suffers from the same

However, I am not sure it's the best solution. If someone renames Name
or Comment using a string which already has a

This is no bug!
If you want to create a link to /home/username the symlink is placed in /home/,
but your user have no rights to do that.
You have 3 possibilities:
1. Add a launcher to "nautilus" on your Desktop, that's the smae
2. use your terminal with "ln -s"
3. start nautilus as root and doin
This bug is valid. The GUI stops responding while rhythmbox doesn't
receive streaming data (the only way to close the application is killing
it). To reproduce will need a slow internet connection (or being able to

Sure and this assumes that the user has a basic understanding of the
linux file system. Even if they manage to find the proper directory
path, they are left with an ugly, tiny default icon. To get the correct

Apologies...it does work correctly but only for directories in the users
home. To make any other link requires using the launcher or dropping to
the cli.

It may not be a bug to someone who knows a little about the linux file
system but think about this from the new user perspective.
The launcher method does not currently work well; see bug 38230.
Basically the other two solutions involve dropping down to the CLI.

Ok, it doesn't appear to be an SMB issue, but an LDAP issue: our local windows
network uses domain authentication over LDAP (openldap backend). when using
gnomevfs, it does some sort of LDAP lookup, and that fails. Eavesdropping with
wireshark, we can see it repeatedly query:

is probably due to /etc/nsswitch.conf configured to resolve services through
LDAP (which the Ubuntu workstation isn't configured to do -

Note that you can install Tangerine on your OS X machine:
