As both account settings / account password & ubiquity show password
strengths 'Too short / Weak / Fair / Good / Strong'
I do agree that the algorithms they use are not very strong, and they
are biased against introducing characters

Binary package hint: gnome-panel
After a recent dist-upgrade gnome-panel doesn't start.
I have automatic login enabled.
I do not have unity installed.
Gnome-panel doesn't autostart.
I have working "desktop", i.e. working launchers on the desktop.

I do not have unity installed. And after a recent upgrade my gnome-
panels do not start-up. I have automatic login enabled, so I do not see
GDM. All I have is chromium browser (which I had on auto-startup) and
icons on my desktop. Gnome-launcher doesn't work and Ctrl+Alt+T doesn'†

on the vt1 there are definatly some strange input. After some boot
messages there are 3 weird looking sequences:

I'm using maverick uptodate.
I have automatic login enabled.
The computer boots up and shortly after plymouth I get to my desktop. My
startup applications start to load up (e.g. chromium web-browser,
indicators etc.).

Well epiphany no longer is using xulrunner engine it's using webkit
engine now.
"The dimming effect" you are seeing is part of the compiz animations. If
you go to appearance you can select "No effects" in animation tab.
Generally browsers do produce quite a few messages on the console during

It is somewhat half broken.
If i use midle click or Ctrl+click the page opens in a new tab. The link
on the current page doesn't change color to visited. But the link color
in the new tab does (go back in the new tab).
Next step is to report upstream (I don't have time to do this now):

2) are we talking about Empathy instant messaging application (the one

Can you please provide exact steps to reproduce? I can't quite get the
exact behaviour. Here is what I did
1) Open epiphany & start download
2) Close epiphany window
3) notification icon is still there and download dialog is still here
4) closed download dialot, notification icon is still here

I'm using defaults for the browser and "Add Bookmark" is currently set
to "Ctrl+D" not "w" (can be seen in the Bookmarks drop-down menu). Did
you change shortcuts yourself using gnome shortcuts?

This is more likely website bug. I've run web-inspector against
http://www.fclab.ru/2010/05/25/1517/ in chromium (it's webkit inspector
so should be more or less the same)
And it reports two errors against the page:
