Yeah, the latter result is more what I expected. There's a bug and a fix
for that, but nobody committed it for such a long time... Basically, you
can't use shares-admin since 10.04...
Be sure to remove /etc/init/nfs*, /etc/init.d/nfs*, /etc/init/samba and
/etc/init.d/samba if these files exist.

Well it gets more interesting - I just tried it on a 10.10 physical
machine which has been in operation for several weeks. It prompted me
for credentials. I will reinstall the OS on the physical machine and
see what happens. \
Regardless of the possible security issue it seems that shares-admin
I have removed the packages and restarted the machine just for good
measure. This time shares-admin does not prompt me to install NFS
and/or SAMBA - even though they are no longer there.
My testing was done newly installed 10.10 in the form of VMWare virtual
