On further review, the dialogs we are talking about are the F-Spot
Import dialog, launched by clicking import in F-Spot, vs. the dialog
provided by the command f-spot-import. f-spot-import is provided with
F-Spot, so any issues with its design would have to be reported
upstream.

I concur about the inconsistency. In fact, that's been a pet issue of
mine for a while now. In my case, I want F-Spot to always keep my photos
in it's own directory structure, which the Nautilus F-Spot import dialog
does not permit.
I've never liked the idea of having two different dialogs to acco

Workaround: i've just tested the following - i make a new "menu" in the menu
where "alacarte-made" or "alacarte-made-2" is located and name it exactly the
same, i.e. "alacarte-made" or "alacarte-made-2", shure nothing happens and
after a few seconds i can select properties for the "alacarte-made
This obviously isn't specific to Ubuntu or Firefox. There's a lot lot
lot more to it. I looked over many work-arounds and I came to the
conclusion that what I came up with wasn't a work-around but rather the
best way to manually install these packages (java/flash).

I rebuild a package gnome-media-2.28.1 from source. The configuration
was done by:
./configure --disable-pulseaudio --enable-gstmix --enable-gstprops
--enable-grecord --disable-scrollkeeper
Then I used "fakeroot make" with checkinstall to compile it.
I can now run gnome-volume-control with oss

The upgrade to karmic solved this problem for me, even though i had
gtreamer plugins and dvdauthor in jaunty, it still would not work.
Working in karmic is good enough for me (although i would of liked to
find the source of the problem)

Another possibly related clue is that I cannot open an archive (any
format) on a remote share and then drag files from in that archive to a
remote network share and drop them in. I always have to extract locally
then copy from local into the remote share...
So possibly an issue with How File Rolle
I can confirm the same behaviour. I'm using Document Viewer 2.28.1 with
poppler 0.12.0 (cairo). I have ubuntu 9.10 karmic.
I'm not sure if it happens with every PDF, but it definitely happens
with the book scans from my library.

I've been using F-Spot on and off for a year to import photos from my
camera and I never realized that it had the ability to do any sort of
editing aside from rotating the image. The reason is that even after
double-clicking a photo in F-Spot, the

Is there a pure software test case for this fix? I'm not near a printer
nor do I know whether my printer is affected, so I can't easily test the
