Thank you for spreading some light on this issue! I no longer have the
disappearing column problem, and here's what insight I can add.
The fix for me was slightly different. "/apps/procman/proctree/columns_order"
was out of order. It looked like this:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

Using the Live CD, I booted into the desktop environment and install the
nvidia-glx-180 drivers for my video card. I restarted the X server and

Synaptic/apt/dpkg kept trying to configure the package every time it was
run, and it gave the same error every time.
I'm guessing it was a HDD error. I have since completed a fresh install
of 9.04 and, obviously, don't have the problem any more.

I am running jaunty, and had a similar error. I should have copied the
error log, but didn't. It did it to me on two spotless blank DVDs. I
was able to burn the ISO from Windows 7 with no issues. The weird thing
is I decided to try watching the 'errored' DVD after I had burned the

suspect that seahorse and gnome-keyring-manager refuse to recognize the

I use a Mac keyboard and accidentally also found myself in gedit OVR
mode. I cannot get out of it either. I am considering restarting gedit,
which seems like a big hammer for such a small problem.

It's only in libgail. Could you try disabling assistive technologies and see if
it still segfaults ?

I can confirm this bug with 9.10 with a floppy drive, with a pre-release
version as of 8th July 2009.
The floppy issue is not related to bug #255651 as it persists if floppy
is added to /etc/modules.
Steps to replicate:
Boot machine. Floppy Drive isn't shown in nautilus.
lsmod | grep floppy
