I have the same problem in my PHILIPS DVD+-RW SDVD8431. I can't write a normal
CD via Nautilus CD
Burner or Gnome-baker. Only write about 40% of the disk and then stop, whit
error. I have Ubuntu 7.10 - the Gutsy Gibbon because Feisty fawn I had the same
problem... The hard-drive working fine.

rendering work-around in Amaranth's launchpad Compiz repository. I
chatted with him and the reliance on --indirect-rendering is due to be
removed in the coming weeks, so I think it is a case of wait-and-see but

I am not sure if nautilus-dbgsym had any influence but now I can no longer
reproduce the bug, everything runs fine.. I removed nautilus-dbgsym but I

Is this only a Dapper problem?
I am not having any luck at all reproducing the problem in Gutsy under a
VM. I have done 8 trials of various operations, and all did nothing but
expected.
Here's an easy test method:
mkdir -p ~/trials/orig
cd ~/trials/orig
cp /etc/passwd .
cp /etc/group .
mkdir ..
