Direct hit! Thank you very much for spotting this out. When having the option
"vga=785" in the kernel boot parameter, /proc/mtrr looked like:
reg00: base=0x ( 0MB), size= 512MB: write-back, count=1
reg01: base=0x1e00 ( 480MB), size= 32MB: uncachable, count=1

Since the last upgrade, X does'nt work anymore on my desktop (I use a

We think that this problem was fixed.
But we find that /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/ja_JP.UTF-8/XLC_LOCALE is
broken, too.
