The compose key, also called MULTI_KEY allows sequences such as:

I have started encounter two new fun behaviors at once.
1) Wine OpenGL applications crash X, producing the symptoms described
above.
2) After launching X, the virtual terminals will never correctly display
again, whether X is quit normally or whether Ctrl-Alt-FX is used to

Isn't the current X server autodetection stuff good enough? I'm sure
there'll eventually be (if there isn't already) XF86Setup for XFree 4,
which will let people graphically mangle the

What I do is I use the libGL from xlibmesa3 and the libGLU compiled from
Mesa's sources (which I already have on-hand because of formerly using
Utah-GLX).
