I'm the maintainer of culmus package (provides Hebrew fonts).
In the package I use dh_installxfonts to do the right updates in postinst and
postrm.
The line "update-fonts-scale Type1;update-fonts-dir --x11r7-layout Type1"
appear in
ed.
I also diff the file betwwen version 4.3.0.dfsg.1-8 & 4.3.0.dfsg.1-9 and
didn't find any big difference. sorry.
