About once a week, I see X restarted while I have an X session running.
I did not find a reason for that. This time it happened while
reconnecting the power cord to the laptop.
Xorg.0.log.old ends with these lines:

Hi all,
I just found an accelerated video driver for SGI O2. It has been
developed for netbsd and is available at
ftp://ftp.ticklers.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-current/xsrc/xfree/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/crime/
Is there anyone interested in packaging it? I may test the resulting
package.

I have an apple powerbook G4 q5" with a 1280x854 LCD. At 1280x854 the
display is perfect but I cannot use it at 1024x768.
I made two test and noticed the same screen corruption:
1. mplayer switching to 1024x768

This is a file for xmodmap that will fix some problems with
the italian keyboard for powerbook.

I cannot understand what was the problem, but after the weekly
dist-upgrade to today testing, then the problem seems solved.
I will test it with more machines in the next few days and then close
this bug.

I just update xserver-xfree86 from 4.3.0-0pre1v4 to 4.3.0-2 (unstable)
and the behaviour is still wrong :-)
