Hi, I don't know if this is the right place where to send report to, I
hope so.
I have a laptop ASUS A1000 with VGA chipset SiS 630. The BIOS is the latest
available from the vendor.
1. The first problem I found is that when xdm starts the screen resolution
is not correct. It seems to me the it is something like 640x480 since
(sometimes!) I can see a big (2cm?) X pointer on a white background.
Every time I start xdm then I switch to vt1 and then vt7 again. This
'hack' works and then the resolution is correctly 1024x768.
There is no evindence of this resolution change in /var/log/XFree.0.log.
2. The second problem I have is that once xdm starts then it is not
possible to get back to the console since it is completely black. This
seems a problem related to the sisfb driver, but I am not sure about it.
