It made no difference.
It still just gives a black screen. It is a shame that the state of

My xterm randomly ignores input after upgrade. I don't know if it is

Since the switch from hal to udev, my trackballs stopped working.
I have now written a udev rule to restore them. It should works for most,
if not all, Marble Logitech trackballs.
On my system, it is called:
