Just wondering if the latest Xfree86 4.2 from the X taskforce has the patches
mentioned in the url I guess the kernel thing is a separate issue...probably
need to run 2.4.19 kernel-image?
NOTE this is for sony vaio pcg-r505el model
apparently it does work but seems excessive...

The subjects says it all .. since 4.2.1 pre1v1 (IIRC) Xv doesn't work at
1400x1050, but works at lower resolutions.
Xine dies with:
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 142 (XVideo)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 ()
Hi there,
I've been running debian on a Sony Vaio laptop with the
i830 graphics chipset for a while now, but to get X running on
this machine I had to compile the 4.2 sources from CVS using
the hacks detailed here:

to the board, but does not for YUY2 and UYVY. This gives cool
green-pink images, as can be seen by using the xv test program
xvtest.tar.gz at http://www.xfree86.org/~mvojkovi/.
Following is a patch to fix it, copying the code fro
