This seems to have fixed my freeze problems with X.

Looks like you firewall is denying and logging packets it's
recieving for the qotd protocol...qotd 17/tcp "Quote of the Day".
I don't know of an exploit that this might indicate, but it
doesn't have an effect on the problem at hand.

so i could test all of them! it's a little time consuming but it helped
without a doubt!
don't rely on the distro to make things nice for ya. learn more about the
xscreensaver runs fast and looks great in 'windowed' (even maximized) mode
but it's _really_ slow and yucky in fullscreen mode.
hardware is a penitum iii, voodoo 3/200 AGP and 128 mb ram

Please post the results of 'iptables -vL' which will give more
details on the ruleset. There are things missing with
oesn't do any forwarding to an
internal system. Place this in /etc/init.d and add a link to it
in /etc/rc2.d like
ln -s ../init.d/iptables.scr S11iptables
This will make it load at boot time. Be sure to make the changes
to it for IP and interface names first.

and it printed "unknown device: pc13". I then changed to the
printcap you suggested earlier and tried to print with lpr and
got nothing to the printer, and lpq showed the job in error.

gs-common was upgraded. Then I checked and realized that

I have not been getting messages from the debian-user
list the last few days, but messages are still showing
up on the list. I have checked filters and blocked
email addresses, but cannot seem to find a reason I am
not getting messages. I can browse them at google
(linux.debian.user), but this is
unplug it.
It is as if the keyboard is constantly sending invisible keystrokes
(e.g. shift or control), but otherwise it works fine.
Is this a fault with the keyboard, or am I missing a setting somewhere?
