I have installed 'seyon' and am trying to use it to dial into our system at

strangely, no mention of answering incoming calls in the
documentation.
I have set up an extra button, as per documentation, to transmit
an ATA to the modem. This does cause the modem to answer but no

Dear Martin,
I have misspelled the argument to seyon in my previous message
(I wrote tty0 instead of ttyI0).
The defult baud rate in seyon is 9600. This is why (since, in any case
nothing was working) I played around with its value.
I'll try the initialization you suggest.

Dear Debs,
I am trying to use Seyon with an ISDN PCMCIA card (the card is
recognized by the system) and got already some help from Martin

Now, step 2:
Calling seyon with no argument has the result of taking /dev/tts0

Martin,
Thank you for the adduser suggestion: indeed root can start seyon.
I shall add myself to dialout.
There is another problem, however. This is the message:

Dear Martin,
When I start seyon as a user (I have not tried as root) with "seyon -modems

Dear Debs,
I have an ISDN card which is supported and recognized by the

I run it, it segfaults on me (I am runing a libc6 box). I ran an strace

d that way for days so it's not just a mirror sync problem.
The seyon package no longer exists in the non-free section, and
grepping through bo's Contents file doesn't find it either. It is in
hamm/non-free/comms/seyon_2.14c-4.deb, and according to the package
information depends on

Take a look in /usr/doc - there is likely to be a seyon
sub-directory there.

I'd been unable to make seyon work having downloaded the package from
stable at ftp.debian.org. I finally pointed dselect at
ftp-nog.rutgers.edu and tried again, and voila seyon came down. I
haven't yet tried to make it work, but at least the man page is here and

Did you download the debian package? (there's one in non-free, if
I remember correctly).

I've downloaded seyon recently, because I understand (perhaps
incorrectly) that it provides a terminal emulator cum dialer for use in
the X environment. Having done so, how do I invoke it? I tried seyon
from within xterm, but it says "ksh: seyon: not found". I did a "find /
This is actually two questions.
The seyon package in non-free doesn't document how to add items to the
dialing directory. How is it done?
How do I use the cursor-keys when i run ae in xterm? It comes up with funny
sequences.
