I discovered an issue on my ASUS EEEPC 1005HPX with the latest kernel in
bookworm.
This is a known issue:
When I boot, then the kernel hangs and it looks for me, that it is probing for
edd. However, this issue is not every time, but from time to time it hangs
over minutes or does

here. The latest
kernel in Sid also apparently is leading to some file corruption on
ext4 systems. I think we've been chasing the rabbit down the wrong hole.
I am sticking to the second newest kernel when I run Sid.

I had the same problem some months ago.
I uses a GRML USB key and uses grml-bootstrap (a nice wrapper around
cdebootstrap) to install Wheezy with the kernel 3

I tried again - I did in fact (ignore earlier post) see the OK and
clicked on it. initrd.img winds up being 89 bytes long. The output
of the configure follow. The only anomoly is the comment about a
missing link.

running kernel and I should reboot right away - which I did.

I did base install from sarge cd and dist-upgraded to sid. Kernel 2.6.8 was working ok. I disacbled i810_audio and did alsaconf. everything was fine. Now I installed kernel 2.6.16 from repo. now sound is not working. I once again did alsaconf..checked all volumes are ok. Still no sound comes form b
