uninstalled upgrades because of this.
I have ftp'd xterm, apt, and debconf to re-install to no avail.

Up until now I have had no problems compiling kernels. I used the latest
"make-kpkg" on the downloaded kernel-source-2.2.15, dpkg'd it, lilo reports
successful install and on re-boot I get the following message:
"kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k binfmt-464c, errno 8"

It may be a "buggy" kernel. dpkg -i old kernel-image (the one that works).
Try downloading the k.-s.-2.2.14-4 and configuring from there.
I had problems with the k-s-2.2.14-3.

/dev/hda7 on my system during e2fsck check. If I C-c, the system continues

Since I'm a relative newbie with no programming skills (sigh!) can anyone tell
me of a fix for this
Try using dselect to select the kernel-source you want as well as "kernel
package" which has the scripts for a Debian-style kernel install. Read the
docs with "kernel package".
I've tried both SuSe and RedHat and find Debian easier to get around in--most
of the time.

xf86config and "touched it up" with XF86Setup I finally settled on 16 bps with
800x600, 1024x768, 640x480.
I re-installed fileutils and shellutils since I was getting error messages
about not finding "du" and "id" as well.
Seems to be working just fine.

When I open xterm (or any x-shell) in wmaker my system hangs. Can't
switch consoles, ctrl-alt-delete or ctrl-alt-bksp gets no response. I
have to manually re-boot (re-set).
have slink installed from "Official Debian CD"
