that the user selects. I know that firefox/iceweasel allows you to scale the
printout.
If not then the files could be opened in a word processor and the text size
easily increased.
Hope this helps.

Some success: $ lp -d HPC6180 -h 192.168.1.49:9100 major_surplus.ps
This did get the printer to print, but it printed garbage and blank pages, many
of each.
Also, $ lpr -P HPC6180 -H 192.168.1.49:9100 info/cdrecord_trouble.txt
More garbage!

The cups error log is empty.
I tried using this printer in OpenOffice.org. Using spadmin I chose the "HP
PhotoSmart C6100" print driver and entered the command "lp -d Photosmart". I
just get the response "Error while printing" w
nd_ac97_codec are not loaded. Maybe that was part of the problem.
Also, /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer are now present, for whatever that is worth.
Thanks.

I recently lost sound after a dist-upgrade to Debian 4.0. Not sure why, though
I do have a new kernel, 2.6.18-4-486, replacing 2.6.8-2-386.
Now xmms gives an error message, "couldn't open audio."
When I originall installed Debian stable on this computer a year or so ago,
sound worked fine with n

I have Debian/Stable installed on one partition formatted as ext3. Recently,
when booting into my Debian/Stable partition a check was forced
and fsck failed. I was then prompted to enter the root password and run
fsck manually. It was also mentioned that the file system was mounted
read-only and
free
You would need to comment out (#) or delete the lines for your CDs.
Then do the following:
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
Hope this helps.

followed this with "pppd call provider". I don't believe it activated the
modem.
Any thoughts as to how I might proceed?

nged he permissions on /dev/dsp and /dev/dsp0 and added myself to the audio
group. Now the error is (no such device).
I'm not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I then used "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" to configure xfree86. In
particular to select the xserver as nvidia, remove the dri and Glcore modules
and add the glx module.
Following this:
# modprobe nvidia
