The CUPS web interface. > Is the hplip package installed on the shorewall box? If not, try to > install it and see if that helps. Yes hplip is installed. > Otherwise, try to use IPP (internet printing protocol) instead of > JetDirect: > ipp://ip-address-or-hostname/resource I just tried ipp://192.168.1.49/ipp as suggested in the CUPS Using Network Printers page. I also tried ipp://192.168.1.49. After sending a test page through the CUPS web interface I get: "Network host '192.168.1.49' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds..." Still, I can print a test page from the CUPS web interface using socket://192.168.1.49. I also tried socket://192.168.1.49:9100; I can still print the test page from the web interface but "lp -d HPC6180 file.ps" fails, "lp: Connection refused." Some success: $ lp -d HPC6180 -h 192.168.1.49:9100 major_surplus.ps This did get the printer to print, but it printed garbage and blank pages, many of each. Also, $ lpr -P HPC6180 -H 192.168.1.49:9100 info/cdrecord_trouble.txt More garbage! Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -- Gary Parker -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
