Hello list,
I just installed Debian 7.0 "Wheezy" on what I call my new workstation.
It's a pretty standard setup: right now I installed Debian on the first
SATA drive (a 120Gb SSD drive) and mounted my 1Tb HDD as my home
partition with no problems at all.
I've been reading here and there though,
Your "real thing" suggestion is the best one so far! Somehow, in my haste, I
confused someone's ad-hoc howto for the real release notes.
I ended up hiring a consultant for a couple of hours to bail me out. My
system is now upgraded. The only task I have left is to get gdm working
properly with my

The 'available' file seems to be the same as the Packages file, deb822
format describing packages:

Hi all,
I keep having the situation where I want to cut and paste a section from
an email to another document. Is there any way to cut and paste from
iceweasel to the clipboard to a text document?
All help will be sincerely appreciated

I had some filesystem corruption. The last thing I did before the
machine hard locked was to install lshw. lshw is what hard locked the
system. Let's save the filesystem journaling discussion for another day
and focus on the matter at hand.
Anyway, at least one dpkg file entry was damaged and t

BTW, sorry for double mailing but I also think it's worth mentioning
that nowadays its just Debian. It has other kernels available, such as
hurd and kfreebsd. One thing is debian e a total different thing is
Linux.

Ignore me; I misread your post. I'm talking about KMix, not

Though it may appear as if I was being ironic in my last comment, I
don't think you've exceeded in your harshness. I'm not offended and it
did indeed help me to question my reliance on this software.
So my "thank you" was sincere, though it kind of felt like a
bitchslap.. :)

What's that in aid of? Just do:
aptitude update
aptitude safe-upgrade
aptitude full-upgrade
"Safe-upgrade" will upgrade everything it can without removing anything.
"Full upgrade" will upgrade everything even if some removals are
necessary.

which suggests trying the following steps:
apt-get update
apt-get install gnome
apt-get -f install (had to do that about three times before full success)
apt-get -f dist-upgrade
However, the above solutio
