After my initial install, I recompiled my kernel and had sound working beautifully. However, at startup, esd would start and I'd have to manually kill it because xmms would complain that /dev/dsp was busy. I finally grew tired of manually killing the process and removed esd from my X-Windows conf

Hi there, the lids patch is part of the unstable distribution, (lids-2.2.18 & lids-2.4.1). If you want to build a secure kernel-image for debian feel free to do it. On the LIDS-homepage there are patches including stealth and openwall4 patch. If If you wish them to be packaged I think I can do.

Hola~ After running a dist-upgrade, I got a new version of gv. It doesn't seem to be real happy with pdf files. A pdf file that I was viewing with gv last week won't parse now. I get some message about the pdf file having password encryption (as far as I know, it doesn't). Anyone else seeing this

I loved yast1. yast2 did not impress me. If you find it for debian pse let me know. ALSO if you bring down yast1 in rpm format theoretically alien can convert it to debian. I don't know if it will actaully work but it was a great tool in suse. ( there also might be a copywrite issue)
