Just a follow up to the X problem. Turns out that the problem was that I
had recompiled my kernel (2.0.35) using egcs. Once I did a recompile

colormap problem. Look at printout of startx, and I found I was only
using 6 bit per RGB. All I specified in XF86Config is 8, 16,
etc. Seems I'm out of luck to get more colormaps...

xhost' which might tell you how to get multiple users using the same X
server. I believe there is a better way to do it than this, but I ca't
