Hi!
I want to install my new workstation but I can't get the debian
installer to proceed.
It boots up nicely but then it stopps while trying to load the
'ide-detect' module. The system just hangs there and i have to hardreset.
The Board has a SATA

http://gluck.debian.org/cdimage/testing/netinst/i386/beta-1/sarge-i386-netinst.iso

Looks like the same iso that wouldn't boot my PC too.

I am installing under Bochs. As noted by #202684, the installation dies
with RAM<=32MB - I tried to boot with:
boot: linux video=vga16:off
but the installation still proceeds with the framebuffer on.

I have a floppy-less system with scsi cd-rom. Thus, the sarge-installer is a
no-go for me. I guess it's not that many floppyless scsi-systems out there,
but it sure causes headache for me.

got a problem ...
My 'testing' box is the dns server (bind9) and nat-gateway
for the rest of the lan. All external hosts resolv fine through dns
and I'm able to ping them ...
My 'testing' box is unable to ping/ftp any host on the lan,
unless I place the appropriate entry in /etc/hosts.

and in /etc/nscd.conf
I tried with:
enable-cache hosts no
instead of 'yes' ... (put it back though).
