I do not have this problem with other browsers.

Sorry Eckart, but it has been most of two years since I have been in
Vietnam, and tried to type Vietnamese. I do not even have a Vietnamese
environment to play with here anymore.

All I get out of the new KDE is a black screen with a mouse pointer, no CPU

Konsole and SCIM were actually working for a while, and now since a
recent update there has been a degradation: Now when I use SCIM to
enter Chinese characters into konsole, some of the characters appear as
they should, and some just show up as square boxes.

However, after I install scim-qtimm SCIM starts working with konsole
again. May I suggest this bug report be used to add scim-qtimm to the
scim "recommends" list right beside scim-gtk2-immodule?

I am running fluxbox, not KDE.
In the recent past, I was able to start konsole, hit Ctrl-Space, then
type Chinese directly into konsole. Now when I hit Ctrl-Space nothing
happens, ie. the SCIM window does not pop up.

The problems I reported here seem to have gone away as of the latest Quanta
3.5.5 that I just installed. I don't necessarily have exactly the same KDE
packages installed, but I am testing under fluxbox. Please close this bug
report.
