I by accident erased the boot partition on the OSX side of my machine. It
happened when I reformated one of the drives on the Mac side.
I am currently running Debian and OSX with yaboot as my loader.
For some reason I can't seem to find much helpful documentation on how to
reset the loader back

I installed kernel-image-powerpc and now on boot a lot of modules get
loaded that I don't need. F.i. ipv6, ext3, nfsd and ieee1394 - can I
somehow prevent loading of these modules at startup (apart from deleting
them, of course)?

e happened when upgrading from the debian kernel package for 2.6.7 to
2.6.8. The idle temperature goes up ~4 degrees celcius, just by booting
with 2.6.8 or later instead of 2.6.7. A friend with the same model is
also experiencing this.

I have a Performa 6300/120 currently with MacOS on

I have put the required files (yaboot etc) in the
root of the HDD.
When I try to get the OpenFirmware prompt, (apple
option o f) it just ignores it and goes to MacOS.

RS/6000 for a number of years, after follows some
steps posted on this mailing list. Using the rsync
sources from source.mvista.com, I've had both 2.4.x
and 2.6.x kernels working. 2.6 really made it fly,
gnome is now pretty quick to use.

Everything seems to work, except my 2 external soundcards (Griffin
Firewave via Firewire, and Digidesign MBox via USB) not being recgnized.
Only Soundcard seems Shasta I/O Dummy which w
show me a way on how to achieve this, without need of
upgrading to Jessie et. al.

But i rememeber, on my Imac G5, Sid would work, but some things started
to become, strange and i reverted then. Could not remember though if it
was the Imac g5 with Nvidia or the Radeon G5 one.
